I will be following the story as best I can as I think the Asian is a beautiful, world-class museum with a marvelous staff, great programs and beautiful art. It could be better but then, what else is now? The Buddha cautions us against desiring perfection in this transitory world and for us to lose this jewel would be crushing. The Ganesh at the top of the escalator is delightful but deserves better than to be sold off at a fire sale by JP Morgan and company. We deserve better and most of all, the Asian Museum deserves a generous deal from its donor base along with somebody to whip back the pit bulls of the banking industry. Haven't they gotten enough?

Let's give voice to the next generation - they are wise beyond their years, these days. When I first read "A Clockwork Orange" I had barely began my twenties. The copy I had purchased contained a dictionary for those delightfully confusing language quips Alex and his droogs are so fond of but alas they did not contain the last chapter. I was still mesmerized by the story and this young man and his very anti-social ways. Anthony Burgess actually hated this Book and was dismayed that it was published without the last chapter here in America. The movie version of the Book, heralded as one of the greatest films of that era, was based on the American release. This upset Burgess as he felt the masterpiece was missing the final piece. Personally, I hated the last chapter. I thought it was a hoax.

Of course, one of the most impressive aspects of the decor is still the oldish sandstone, 1850's building where the bar is located. Out the front, there is a rack where you can either leave your bikes or borrow a vintage one to ride around the city. The entry is nicely decked out with pot plants and sweet flowers giving an element of romance. They've gone enviro too, with recycled office carpets draped across the floors, old farm tables and church pews, adding to the bohemian chic feel of the place.
