Mojang's Notch is a clever man in the field of game design and management of his company's 20,000,000+ Minecraft players, is an excellent choice. The designer posted a poll on his blog to find out whether his cuboid pals would be happy with the company's collection of anonymous data from its players.

Mojang currently tracks players only when they logins to the game. Notch's plan is to monitor "non-private data" like the length of a gameplay session as well as your PC's OS type and whether you're playing in multiplayer or single mode and whether you're playing with the client or via the web applet. The community would then have access to the collected data "as normal."

Notch stated that the information will be transmitted "naturally" anonymously. "So it wouldn't contain any details about your session or user name, and it doesn't send any sensitive information that you wouldn't want to share." Blaster Music To be perfectly honest, we're fairly shocked that this type of data wasn't already being collected. You can vote here for anonymous data collection or against it if you are part of the Minecraft nation.
